Summerville Catholic School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools (SACS) and the Catholic Diocese of Charleston. Teachers hold teaching certificates and many hold higher educational degrees.
SCS offers individualized learning for students, so that no matter their level, they will continue to be challenged and encouraged to reach their full potential while remaining with their peers socially. SCS helped to set the Catholic Diocese of Charleston's Standard of utilizing MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing to asses your child’s level and needs.
SCS students participate in a variety of academic competitions, such as the Citadel’s Low Country Bridge Competition, the Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Contest, and math competitions, where they are typically awarded top honors/placement.
Middle School students annually qualify for the National Geographic GeoBee competition.
SCS students typically win athletic championships in a variety of sports. Archery competed for a National Championship in Spring 2018!
The majority of our 4th-6th-grade students typically qualify for the Duke University TIP (Talent Identification Program), and over one-third of our 2nd-8th-grade students qualify for the Johns Hopkins Talented Youth Program.
Higher level math, English language arts, and Spanish tracks are available to gifted students in the middle school for the opportunity to receive high school credit.
Students participate in community service projects throughout the year.
