Some Facts You Might Like to Know About Summerville Catholic School 

K-4 through 8th Grade

 

bullet 46% of our 8th Grade Students qualified for the Bishop England Scholars contest; 72% were recognized as Outstanding Scholars for their scores on the PSAT.
bullet 42% of our 7th Graders qualified for the Duke University Talent Identification Program (T.I.P.).
bullet Two 8th Grade students scored 1550 and 1500 on the SAT through the Duke T.I.P..
bullet 72% of our 5th Graders and 50% of our 4th Graders qualified for the Duke University Talent Identification Program (T.I.P.).
bullet One of our 8th graders scored in the top 25% in the annual Math Counts Competition in 2008.
bullet Students won 18 of 21 top awards in the Low Country Bridge Competition at the Citadel.
bullet A SCS student finished first in the Low Country Catholic School Diocesan Spelling Bee in 2007.
bullet Three SCS students won 3 of 21 top awards in the Low Country Catholic School Science Fair in 2006.
bullet Two 7th grade students were winners in the 2006 Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Contest
bullet Two SCS students were winners of the Knights of Columbus Essay Contest in 2006 and 2008.
bullet In 2008, we sent a 7th grader to the State GeoBee competition held in Columbia. In 2008 that same student competed as an 8th grader in the State competition.
bullet Summerville Catholic students were nominated as Student Ambassadors for People To People and have traveled to Washington DC, Calgary, Europe or Australia.
bullet SCS students won athletic championships in soccer, tennis & basketball and archery. One of our students competed on a national level in an archery tournament held in Nashville in 2009.
bullet Junior High students are eligible for and compete on Junior Varsity Sports  teams at Bishop England High School.
bullet An 8th grade student received the South Carolina Governor’s Citizenship Award.
bullet 8th grade students were recipients of the Presidential Scholars Award for Academic Excellence and Achievement.
bullet SCS student have served the community with over 1000 hours of volunteer service every year.
bullet SCS students raised nearly $3000 in relief for Catholic Schools devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and continually support other national and local charities (i.e. Habitat, SPCA, Palmetto House, Birthright Charleston, Children in Crisis).
